Greenwood County Divorce Records
The Greenwood County Family Court exercises original jurisdiction over divorces filed in the county. Divorce cases aim to wholly terminate the marital union between two people. The records of these proceedings are referred to as the Greenwood County divorce court records or, simply, the Greenwood County divorce records.
In accordance with the South Carolina FOIA, members of the public can research divorce cases using the online South Carolina FCCMS Public Portal. Also, they can contact the Clerk of Court for copies of initiating petitions, settlement agreements, the final signed decree, etc. Direct contact with the Clerk's Office is the recommended procedure when seeking certified or authenticated copies of local divorce files.
